ROLIMUS 10 MG Everolimus

The drug is an antitumor agent that acts as a protein kinase inhibitor.

Application

The medicine has a broad effect on cancer and can be used to treat:

• advanced and metastatic renal cell carcinoma, in cases where antiangiogenic therapy was ineffective;
• common and metastatic neuroendocrine tumor of the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas and lungs;
• hormone-dependent advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal patients in combination with aromatase inhibitors, when endocrine therapy has already been carried out;
• subependymal giant cell astrocytoma associated with tuberous sclerosis in patients over 3 years of age, in cases where surgical intervention is not possible;
• renal angiomyolipoma associated with tuberous sclerosis, in cases where there is no need for urgent surgery.

Contraindications

During clinical studies, it was proven that patients tolerate treatment with ROLIMUS well, but in some cases its use is prohibited. The drug should not be used in the following cases:

• hypersensitivity to the active component everolimus, rapamycin derivatives, as well as in the presence of intolerance to any additional substance included in the composition;
• pregnancy and breastfeeding;
• liver diseases in patients aged 3-18 years;
• if the patient has not reached 3 years of age.

The medicine is prescribed with particular caution:

• when taking everolimus in combination with inhibitors of P-GP and CYP3A4;
• for minor patients with severe liver failure, when the possible positive effect is significantly higher than the risk;
• patients before or after surgery;
• in the presence of lactose intolerance, severe lactose deficiency and glucose-galactose malabsorption.

Overdose

At the moment there are no cases of drug overdose. If such a situation arises, you must immediately inform your doctor, who will provide appropriate symptomatic treatment. Studies have proven that even with a single dose of 70 mg, the drug is well tolerated.

Storage

The medicine should be stored in its original packaging in a dry and dark place, at a temperature not exceeding 25C.

Best before date

The drug is valid for 2 years after the date of manufacture. Once the package is opened, the tablets are stored for no more than 1 month. You cannot use expired medication for treatment.
