Sorafekast 200 mg – instructions for use
Sorafekast is an antitumor drug based on sorafenib, which acts as a low-molecular multikinase inhibitor that prevents tumor growth.
Release form
The drug is available in tablets, each containing 200 mg. active substance.
Pharmacological properties
The drug acts by actively suppressing the growth of tumor tissue. Use is recommended for various types of cancer. The maximum concentration of the active component in the body is reached after 3 hours.
Application
The drug is widely used in oncology:
- for renal cell and hepatic cell oncological diseases;
- oncological pathologies, in the presence of metastases in the kidneys;
- for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma;
- oncological diseases of the thyroid gland, locally advanced or metastatic, differentiated.
Contraindications
You cannot prescribe treatment with the drug if the patient has intolerance to any of the components included in the composition, as well as:
- for the treatment of cancer in pregnant women;
- during lactation;
- for minor children.
Particular care should be taken when treating patients with:
- skin diseases;
- arterial hypertension;
- frequent bleeding;
- cardiovascular diseases;
- angina pectoris;
- with myocardial infarction.
Interaction with medications
The drug cannot be used for treatment if taken simultaneously with the following medications:
- Rifampicin;
- Dexamethasone;
- Phenytoin;
- Carbamazepine;
- Phenobarbital;
- St. John’s wort;
- Warfarin.
Side effects
Treatment with the drug can cause a number of undesirable reactions, including:
- allergy;
- diarrhea;
- leukopenia;
- neutropenia;
- anemia;
- hoarseness of voice;
- high pressure;
- decreased or increased activity of the thyroid gland.
Directions for use and dosage
The dosage and regimen of use is selected individually by the treating doctor, taking into account the characteristics of the patient’s body. Often, the doctor prescribes one tablet four times a day, while eating or after meals. During treatment, it is necessary to follow a low-fat diet, which will ensure better absorption of the active substance.
Best before date
You can find out the expiration date of the drug on the packaging. Under no circumstances should the medicine be used after the expiration date.
Storage
To avoid the drug losing its medicinal properties, it must be stored in its original packaging, in a place protected from light and direct sunlight, at a temperature of no more than 25C.
