SUTEKAST 25MG — instructions for use

The drug contains the active substance sunitinib, which has an antitumor effect. The drug has undergone clinical studies, on the basis of which its effectiveness has been confirmed by international quality standards.

Application

Studies have shown that the drug is effective in treating patients with renal cell cancer. The medicine is prescribed for adult patients diagnosed with a progressive pathological process.

Sunitinib is often used to treat conditions such as:

• carcinoma of any form;
• pancreatic oncology with the presence of pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms;
• gastrointestinal stromal tumor.

Contraindications

The drug is not recommended for use by women during pregnancy and lactation, minor children, patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components included in the composition. Sunitinib should not be used to treat active thrombotic microangiopathy.

Treatment should be temporarily stopped if:

• loss of vision;
• severe headache;
• seizures;
• decreased cognitive function;
• if the patient has severe arterial hypertension;
• serious heart problems;
• the presence of metastases in the brain.

Particular care should be taken when prescribing the drug to patients with:

• bradycardia;
• disruptions in electrolyte balance;
• dysfunction of the vascular-cardiac system;
• renal and liver failure;
• prolonged QT interval.

Dosage

The dosage of the drug and the dosage regimen are prescribed by the doctor, taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient’s body; the dose is adjusted based on the result of treatment; the drug can be taken either on an empty stomach or while eating; the capsule is swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of water.

Drug Compatibility

It is not recommended to take the drug with the following medications:

• Ketoconazole;
• Itraconazole;
• Erythromycin;
• Rifampin;
• Clarithromycin;
• Dexamethasone;
• Phenytoin;
• Ritonavir;
• Carbamazepine;
• Phenobarbital;
• St. John’s wort;
• grapefruit juice.

Particular care should be taken when carrying out complex treatment with the use of anticoagulants and antiarrhythmic drugs. During treatment, it is forbidden to drink alcoholic beverages, which increase the load on the kidneys and liver.

Side effects

In most cases, the drug is well tolerated by patients, but sometimes the following adverse reactions may occur:

• asthenia;
• inflammatory processes in the oral cavity;
• digestive disorders;
• loose stools;
• shortness of breath;
• increased blood pressure.

In rare cases, the following may occur:

• anorexia;
• excessive dry skin;
• changes in hair pigmentation;
• skin rash;
• nosebleeds;
• taste changes;
• stomatitis;
• changes in lipase levels;
• changes in psycho-emotional state;
• increased sweating;
• fluctuations in body weight.

During treatment, as well as 3 months after completion of therapy, you cannot plan to conceive. If the side effects are very pronounced, you must temporarily stop taking the drug.

Storage

Store in packaging in a dark, cool and dry place, protected from children. Do not expose the packaging to moisture or direct sunlight.
